Station North Tool Library

After a cross-country trip touring several tool libraries, artist, John Shea and photographer, Piper Watson, decided to bring a tool library to Baltimore, choosing Greenmount West as the destination.

The Station North Tool Library has created an outlet for Baltimore area residents to borrow tools of all kinds from hammers to circular saws, for a small, affordable annual membership.

Ultimately, the mission of the tool library is to empower individuals, through access to tools and workspace, to build a self-sustaining environment and in turn help them become self-sufficient individuals.

While the Station North Tool Library's main focus is to serve Baltimore City, they encourage residents of the surrounding counties to utilize their facility, claiming, "if you can get here, you can use the library."

In its first year, the tool library has accumulated over 400 members and an inventory of over 1,200 tools, many through donations.
