The new Rubys grant program provides much-needed financial support to Baltimore-area artists for the creation of innovative work that will have significant impact for artists and on the community at-large. The grants support the region’s gems — the local creative community of performing, visual, media, and literary artists.
Established in 2013 by the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance, with start-up funding from the Robert W. Deutsch Foundation, the Rubys provide meaningful project support to individual artists and enriches the broader community of Baltimore City and the five surrounding counties.
The Baltimore Ruby award program is modeled after the highly successful Creative Capital program, which has invested more than $30 million in artists through grants, counsel and career development over the last 15 years.
Information on the 2014 class of Ruby grantees in media and performing arts can be found on GBCA’s website.
