AKIMBO is an annual festival that showcases Baltimore's professional dance companies and movement artists, from traditional to experimental.

AKIMBO is as much about the journey between the sites as it is about the experiences within. Audience members are encouraged to explore Station North and experience the neighborhood's rich architecture, culture, and community.

AKIMBO events are designed to build community between artists, audiences, and venues and to encourage ongoing relationships for future projects and collaborations.

AKIMBO was co-founded in 2012 by Nicole A. Martinell (Dancer & Choreographer) and Sidney Pink (Artist and Curator). They bring different experiences and passions to the festival creating a diverse program of artists working in dance, music, spoken word, painting, sculpture, art installation, puppets, multi-media, performance art, and more.

AKIMBO is a project of Deep Vision Dance Company, Inc. Deep Vision Dance Company is a Baltimore-based, nonprofit organization with the mission to engage, inspire, and motivate the community through high quality performances and educational experiences.

In five years, AKIMBO has presented over 40 Baltimore-based and regional professional dance companies. That includes over 400 individual dancers, musicians, visual and multimedia artists. Akimbo events have brought over 3,500 people to Station North to see dance and movement art.
